With the ink barely dry on his new 3-year employment contract, Kevin Reilly – the master behind the rise of FX and such shows as The Shield and Nip/Tuck is out at NBC and replaced by a former agent and TV producer Ben Silverman.
At NBC, Kevin has behind the development of ‘My Name is Earl’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Friday Night Lights – but really has been unable to pull NBC out of 4th place.
And who is Ben Silverman? Silverman is 36 years-old, a former William Morris Agency executive and the founder and CEO of Reveille, a TV studio with some recent massive hits .. maybe you’ve heard of ‘The Office’, ‘The Tudors’, ‘Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader’, ‘The Biggest Loser’ & ‘Blowout’?
The timing of Silverman’s arrival and Reilly’s departure is interesting.
According to Mediaweek, Advertisers are reluctant to begin upfront negotiations, until NBC resolves its management issues and brands are confident they are buying into a schedule that the network buys into itself.
