YouTube Product Placement

Published on August 20, 2008 by   ·   No Comments

Google, the search engine giant, has been actively seeking new ways to pull in more revenue from YouTube a site they bought in 2006. One of their main prospects is mobile advertising, a marketing tool that is estimated to bring in over $200 million worth of extra revenue.

In fact, Google has already put this campaign in motion. The company has begun displaying test ads in various mobile sites in
Japan and the

United States. However, sources claim that these investments, so far, have not met expectations. But, YouTube Marketing Manager Christine Tan is confident that this advertising tool will lead to better things.

Tan quotes, This is our first step in testing mobile advertising for YouTube–it will give you a new way to interact with content on the go, while allowing us to learn how video viewers engage with mobile advertising.

What are the advantages of mobile advertising?

First of all, its cheaper than conventional ad methods. Second, its more convenient to the browsers. Third, it gives access to a large, large market that is growing.

There are over 405 million mobile internet users in the world. Experts say that this statistic will double within the next four years. With this much guaranteed exposure, advertisers will surely fight for display ad placements, not just on video, but also on mobile.
