Johnny Depp Down the rabbit hole!  We all remember the enchanting tale of Alice in Wonderland.

The Disney cartoon has enamored children for more than 50 years, and running.

Recently, director Tim Burton has been commissioned by Disney to make a film adaptation of the cartoon. And when you have Tim Burton directing, you have to have Johnny Depp acting.

Yes, Mr. Depp (a.k.a. Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, and Sweeney Todd) is cast for the role of the Mad Hatter in the manic tea party.  Not only that, the Kentucky native will also star as Tonto in the movie adaptation of The Lone Ranger.

The 3-time Oscar nominee is certainly a bankable leading man, who is known for portraying some of the most eccentric characters of our time. Theres no question about it, Depp is more than equipped to pull-off the Mad Hatter and Tonto only when Disney is working around the clock to bring in the company’s next set of movies.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Pushing the pedal to the metal, Disney and Pixar have moved up the animated sequel Cars 2 from summer 2012 to summer 2011. Another sequel, National Treasure 3, has been put into development, as has a fourth Pirates.
