SlingBox Teams With ACIS

American Collegiate Intramural Sports (ACIS) has signed a deal with SlingBox (a division of Sling Media) to become the title sponsor of the 2008 ACIS football program. The program will run from now to December, and will conclude with the ACIS National Championship in New Orleans from December 28-31.

As defined by Barry Janoff from Brandweek, ?SlingBox is a TV streaming device that enables users to remotely transition, aka ?Sling,? their home cable, satellite or personal video recorder programming via the Internet to any on- or off-location computer.?

Sources close to the deal claim that it cost about $1million. In addition to SlingBox, ACIS also signed other tournament sponsors, including Sara Lee?s Ball Park Franks, Twinlab, Phillips Norelco, Xbox 360, Gold Bond, and Nike. Most of these sponsors are aiming at the college student demographic, making ACIS the perfect venue for advertising.

In a press release, ACIS president Ian Leopold openly expressed his enthusiasm for their sponsors, ?These sponsors understand that it takes more than a one-day promotion to impact this difficult-to-reach demographic and that by becoming a part of the college lifestyle they can make their product relevant to students.?
