Hyundai overtakes GM to the Academy Awards Show

Published on October 8, 2008 by   ·   No Comments

Hyundai Motor America has recently purchased Academy Awards ad spots?particularly, the spots that were abandoned by General Motors Corp. That?s why next year, instead of riding to the Oscar?s in a Chevrolet, consumers will be taking the driver?s seat on a Hyundai.

Rising gas prices combined with economic instability has made America?s largest car manufacturer, GM, forfeit their ad spots to Hyundai. Last month, GM ads were scheduled to air during the Emmy?s. However, the GM executive pulled out the ads?and the Oscar and the 2009 Super Bowl ads will suffer the same fate.

On the other hand, Hyundai has reserved the vacant ad spots from the Super Bowl and the Oscars. The Super Bowl is set to be the launching platform of the Hyundai Genesis? new campaign. The Academy Awards show will surely generate more exposure for the South Korean car maker, most especially because fans are anxiously waiting to see if, recently departed heartthrob, Heath Ledger will earn an Oscar.
