Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Sony-owned Screen Gems, and Chris Rock will be collaborating for a remake of the 2007 Brit-comedy titled ?Death at a Funeral.? Comedian Chris Rock will star and produce the upcoming remake.

The comedy will take place in urban America. The story revolves around a funeral ceremony that leads to misplaced cadavers, indecent exposures, and unwanted family secrets. As opposed to the original, this version will feature a majority African-American cast.

?We’ve been trying to work with Chris Rock and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment for some time now,? said Screen Gems’ president Clint Culpepper. ?It’s exciting to us that this film provides the opportunity to work with both.?
