For the first time, renowned TV show ?American Idol? is using the reigning ?Idol? to promote the show. A new promotional spot for the show, headlined by David Cook, is set to debut this week, according to Fox marketing chief Joe Earley.
In an interview with TVweek Earley elaborated, ?the ad begins with the singer about to go on-stage to perform his new single, ?Light On.? After rewinding through images of his current life?limos, parties, paparazzi?Mr. Cook is seen lying in bed, dreaming about how his ?Idol? voyage began.?
Then, viewers will see splices of Cook?s appearances on the show. After that, ?He then steps on-stage, and when he starts singing, you get that rush,? Earley described.
Cook spent a whole day shooting the spot with Fox. The ad is expected to run again and again over the Thanksgiving weekend. In addition to promoting the show, the ad also promotes Cook?s recently released album.
Fox says that this ?idol? spot is just one of several spots they plan to release during the upcoming holidays.
