TiVo finds new way to advertise

Published on December 13, 2008 by   ·   No Comments

As we all know TiVo?the digital TV recorder?allows viewers to skip commercials. This does not favor broadcasters and marketers who rely on TV commercials to bring in revenue. That?s why TiVo is finding ways of how to make their relationship with broadcasters and brands work.

Case and point: the in-pause advertising screen. TiVo is now offering TV-flashing ads whenever users hit the pause button.

The first to sign on is 20th Century Fox, who will be using TiVo?s pause menu to promote the release of Dr Seuss? ?Horton Hears a Who? on Blu-ray and DVD.

?With the number of DVR homes on the rise, TV advertisers are facing a very serious commercial avoidance issue that must be addressed now,? commented TiVo marketing chief David Sandford.? He added, ?The launch of Pause Menu moves us another step closer to achieving our goal of providing a comprehensive suite of interactive advertising solutions designed to help the TV industry reach viewers in a DVR world.?
