The Day the Product Placement Stood Still

Published on December 17, 2008 by   ·   No Comments

The Keanu Reeves reboot of The Day the Earth Stood Still
smashed the box office this past weekend, but the film itself is rather
slow and uninspired. Unfortunatley, many of the placements are
uninspired in the film as well.  For example, one pivotal scene takes
place in McDonald?s and everything about the scene feels a bit forced.
The movie has verbal mentions of the fast food joint (Keanu’s alien character chats it up with another while eating Big Macs or something) and a lot
of visuals in and outside of the establishment.

Furthermore, the film
features countless Honda references and appearances.  Perhaps these
placements would be more subtle if the film wasn?t so slow to take
flight.
