New Leaf product placement at the HBC Inaugural Ball

New Leaf tea will be sponsoring HBC?s Inaugural Ball on January 20, to be held in Trinity.

While the Ball focuses on historically black colleges, New Leaf owner Rod Watkins will turn the function into a product placement. Watkins says that guests will be offered free samples of the beverage?ranging from eleven unique flavors, including honey-dew melon and the company trademark ?Moteato.?

?Moteato? is a tea with combined mint and lime flavor. According to Watkins, it took forever to formulate the tea.

Regarding the Inaugural Ball, Watkins is more than enthusiastic about the deal. ?It sounded right,? he claimed. ?Everything about it. It?s a chance to move forward with not only our product but getting the name out there and it?s nice being a part of a change in U.S. history.?

New Leaf started in 1990 in New York and other east coast markets, which make it a perfect fit for the Obama administration. ?It?s not really that we?re trying to cash in on it,? said Watkins. ?We?re being there in support of the event?.It?s a way of thanking everybody for coming out. Our slogan is actually ?Turn Over A New Leaf? which is what we?re doing as a country.?
