Bridgestone, the official sponsor of the Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show, will be unveiling a pair of 30-second advertisements on the live NBC broadcast on February 1. One ad will take viewers to Saturn?s largest moon, while the other stars a couple of familiar faces: Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.
?When it comes to getting your message out there, no advertising opportunity compares to the reach and impact of the Super Bowl,? asserts John Baratta, president of the client’s consumer replacement tire sales operations in the U.S. and Canada. ?The commercials we?ve chosen use humor, iconic characters and some pretty amazing special effects to entertain, all while showcasing Bridgestone products and their performance.?
In one spot, titled ?Hot Item,? two space travelers journey to Titan (Saturn?s largest moon) using a space craft equipped with Bridgestone tires.
On the other spot, which will air during the first period of the game, Hasbro?s famous duo of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are shown enjoying a picturesque drive until a herd of sheep pop-up on a tight curve.
Bridgestone also had ad spots during last year?s Super Bowl. One ad showed the unusual pairing of Alice Cooper and Richard Simmons. The other one showed a squirrel that was about to become a victim of road kill, but it hollers and triggers the whole animal kingdom to scream with it, including the passenger in the car.
