Turner is currently producing a new branded microseries, and the network has signed General Motors (GM) as a sponsor for the five-episode-run, which will premiere on January 28.
The microseries, titled ?My Manny,? will air with a standalone pod during episodes of the TBS original comedy series ?House of Payne.? Because of this, ?My Manny,? which stars Sharif Atkins and Elise Neal, is designed to appeal to the same audiences as ?House of Payne.?
The partnership allows GM to give audiences a closer look at the 2009 Chevy Traverse, a four-door crossover SUV priced at $31,255.
The network will drive awareness through on-air-tune-ins, in-show graphics, and billboards. The creative team of GM will run beside the microseries, giving the car manufacturer an element of exclusivity to the pod.
Despite its recent bail out request, GM is still a prominent figure in the auto industry and the advertising industry. In fact, TNS Media Intelligence data suggests that GM is one of the biggest sponsors on cable television. In the first half of 2008, the auto maker shelled out a little less than $104 million for the national cable inventory.
