Endemol aims for Product Placements online

Published on April 8, 2009 by   ·   No Comments

Endemol is planning to insert product placement into catch-up content that will be viewed online.

The entertainment company has signed a deal with MirriAd, a company that inserts CGI product overlays into films to make them look like they were part of the original footage.

The technology will allow indie to generate revenue from branded props, signs, logos, videos pr animations into shows like Deal or No Deal and Coleen?s Real Women when they appear on commercial catch-up websites.

While product placement is banned in UK television, there are no restrictions on putting product placement on online content.

?Crucially, the ads can be changed to suit different markets, giving advertisers more flexibility and surety of viewer engagement,? said MirriAd chief executive Mark Popkiewicz.

The technology is already being used in Latin America, India and Spain.
