Lego is partnering with numerous companies to launch a branded version of ?Rock Band??the popular video game.

The branded entertainment video game is scheduled for release before this year?s holiday season. The game will allow players to experience ?a wild journey to rock stardom,? said Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Players will work their way up through various levels, while strumming some notable contemporary songs, including Blur?s ?Song 2,? Good Charlotte?s ?Boys and Girls? and Pink?s ?So What,? as well as a few kid-friendly chestnuts like Carl Douglas’s "Kung Fu Fighting" and Europe’s The Final Countdown.?

Like other Lego branded releases, gamers will play as Lego mini figurines. In this version, players will customize their own band by creating Lego avatars, which includes band members, roadies, managers, and more.

?We?re thrilled to offer another Lego branded gaming experience that will deliver humorous and social play for families and friends,? comments Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, vice president of the Lego Group. ?Lego Rock Band is built around the same values of imagination and family-friendly creative role play that is present in other Lego videogames. It will deliver innovative new elements of game play that complement the fun of the Rock Band experience.?

The game will be compatible with standard rock band instruments and other music game controllers. It will be available for the following consolers: Microsoft?s Xbox 360, Sony?s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo?s Wii videogame consoles, as well as Nintendo?s DS handheld.
