Comic Strip auctioned for product placement

Published on July 15, 2009 by   ·   No Comments

The creator of the popular alternative cartoon ?Tom the Dancing Bug? is auctioning off a product placement in a future strip.

Ruben Bolling, who creates the comic strip at a weekly basis, made an announcement in his comic-dedicated blog. The strip, syndicated at Universal Uclick, received the 2009 AAN Award for Best Cartoon in Alternative Newsweeklies last June.

?Imagine your product featured in an authentic ‘alternative’ comic strip that is read by the most desirable demographics: educated young professionals; sophisticated internet users; upwardly mobile newspaper readers; and discerning australopithecine enthusiasts,? Bowling wrote in an open letter for advertisers, marketers, and promoters.

He says that the product will not be featured in an advertisement; it will be integrated into the artistic framework of the comic.

Interested parties can send their bid to tomdbug@gmail.com. The proceeds will be donated to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
