Product Placement debate in Britain

Published on September 26, 2009 by   ·   No Comments

A new survey indicates that most adults are actually in favor of product placement in British television.

The survey was conducted by Redshift Research and it comes at a pivotal time as the UK government says that it will try lifting existing regulations that prohibit product placement on TV programs. Experts estimate that the removal of these product placement regulations could generate up to ?100 million in additional revenues for broadcasters.

85 percent of the survey participants said that a revenue boost was the only benefit that programmers would get. With the recession at hand, any type of revenue boost would be welcomed.

66 percent of the respondents said that these product placements will not improve the ?realistic? feel of TV programs.
