The Church of England confesses doubts about product placement

Published on January 6, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

The Church of England said that US-style product placement might not be in the best interest of the UK public.

Opposition says that product placement will blur the lines between editorial content and commercial messages.

Currently, Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw has launched a consultation period to see how product placement can be integrated in UK television.

Bradshaw believes that lifting the product placement ban would help broadcasters alleviate losses from the downturn in revenue.

The UK government currently implements strict rules on product placement, because the government believes in preserving the integrity of content.

The Church of England has already voiced its concerns to relevant organizations, like consumers groups and health advocacy groups.
