Rihanna says no to music video product placements

Published on April 7, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

Rihanna, the renowned singer and performer, has criticized her fellow artists for allowing product placement to rule their music videos.

Last year, the 22-year-old worked with Nokia to launch her ?Rated R? album.

However, she says that she does not like her work to be ?so commercial.? She explained: ?. I hate product placement in my videos. Videos should just tell the story of the song.?

?With product placement, it becomes this ad campaign,? asserted Rihanna. ?I just don’t like that. Sometimes, we have to, for whatever political reason, but it’s never my first choice.?

She says that artists should maintain control of their style. In fact, she says that after her first two albums she was ready to do it her way completely.
