Product placement in Metal Gear Solid

Published on April 13, 2010 by   ·   No Comments

Product placement has always had a place in the video games platform. In the upcoming ?Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker?, the developers tied in with several companies and products.

Konami says that it will be featuring several in-game advertisements to the latest addition to the Metal Gear Solid saga.

The game features several brands, including Axe, Doritos, Mountain Dew, and Pepsi. Game designer Hideo Kojima explains: ?Concerning the current tie-ins, various things are being said in the news in the business sense, but I have singular reason. It’s because I want to surprise players. If there’s no surprise or freshness, then I’ll stop the tie-ins. It’s different from Hollywood-style merchandising.?
