With the print magazine business struggling, People StyleWatch is looking for alternative means to profit. And it has been a lucrative approach for the fashion magazine.

During the second half of 2009, StyleWatch experienced a rise in circulation by 8.6 percent as the whole industry dropped by 2.2 percent.

At the same period, the magazine?s ad pages rose by more than 24 percent. During the first quarter, consumer magazines had a decrease of 9.4 percent and StyleWatch grew by 130 percent.

In addition to using product placement, the magazine has also managed to cut costs by using paparazzi photos instead of expensive fashion shoots.
