Nissan gets a manga product placement

Monocle magazine is reserving 16 pages of its latest issue for a specially-commissioned manga cartoon, which will feature a product placement from Nissan.

The magazine commissioned artist Torajiro Kishi to create a Hiyaku series in conjunction with a deal with Nissan.

The comic follows the life of Alessandro, who is looking for a simpler life. He drives a Nissan Leaf, which is an essential part of the plot.

It is not the first time that the magazine has featured a product placement. In 2007, the publisher had similar deals with Prada, American Express, and Carlsberg.
