UK opens the door to product placement television

Speculation has been confirmed. Product placement is now allowed in UK television, based on a new EU ruling.

Companies can now integrate their products on shows in exchange for significant amounts of money.

Featured product placements will be indicated by a logo on the corner of the screen, immediately informing viewers that what they?re saying is a paid product placement. When the viewer presses the red button of clicks a link, they will be able to order the product.

Ofcom, the TV regulator, is expected to make the announcement next week regarding the guidelines for the product placement technology?s usage.

There are still banned product placements, including tobacco, alcohol, gambling, and unhealthy foods.
