Russell Brand, Katy Perry’s husband, defended her wife’s tweets about product placement, saying that she did not involve Britney Spears.

In a recent online discussion, Katy Perry did not agree with artists who accept large amounts of money to have crass product placements on their videos.

People immediately speculated that she was pertaining to Britney Spears’ recent video, “Hold it against me.”

In an interview with MTV on the red carpet, Brand explained: “I think those things are made up in the papers and the media to distract people from our spirituality and the truth, and it distracts us from the way the economic situation of the world keeps certain people trapped on this plateau.”
