A movie dedicated to Product Placement

Published on March 29, 2011 by   ·   1 Comment

Morgan Spurlock, the producer of Supersize Me, has his eyes set on the advertising industry.

Recent trends indicate that consumers are now skipping traditional commercials, making brands resort to different advertising mediums, like product placement.

Product placement puts merchandise in television shows and movies. However, some critics say that this is compromising the artistic integrity of the productions.

Spurlock’s latest film, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, has 15 companies in it. He managed to sell everything, even the title.

The film is formally known as “POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.” POM is a California-based pomegranate beverage maker.

“What I want to do is make a film about product placement, marketing and advertising where the entire film is funded by product placement, marketing and advertisement,” explained Spurlock.
