An unrecognizable product placement logo

Do you recognize the P logo? Well, then you’re part of the majority in Britain.

According to a recent survey, nine out of every 10 British viewers do not know what the P logo is.

The logo was designed by regulators to prompt viewers of paid product placements in British television. More than 75 percent of the respondents said that they had no idea what the logo mean, while 11 percent thought it had something to do with car parking.

Under the regulations of Ofcom, the logo must be displayed for three seconds at the start and the end of a program that contains product placements and advertising breaks.

The logo has been used since late February 2011.
