“Beginning of the Great Revival” has stirred up quite a controversy because on one alleged product placement.

In one scene, Mao Zedong accepts a golden Omega pocket watch from his girlfriend. The camera zooms in to display the brand logo prominently.

On first glance, it would appear to be a blatant product placement. However, the movie’s director and star have denied it.

Reports say that the placement is simply a detailed prop design. Han Sanping, the co-director of the film, says that there are no product placements in the movie.
