American Airlines will soon be offering a branded tablet device for its passengers. The carrier’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be used by customers to access onboard entertainment.
The custom tablets will be available for premium cabins on international services to Europe and South America via Boeing 767-300 planes. The devices will also be available for transcontinental routes to New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Using the Samsung Galaxy Tab, passengers will be able to choose from 70 films, including 30 new releases—and that’s just for the initial rollout. They can also access various television shows and audio products.
According to Rob Friedman—American Airlines VP for marketing, the tabs are part of the company’s efforts to modernize the travel experience.
Additional features include: wireless internet capability, games, and e-reader publications.
